The inaugural running of the Irish 1000 Guineas was held on Wednesday 19th April 1922 over 1 mile of The Curragh. A pot of 1000 Guineas was available, 50 guineas to the second and 30 guineas to the third. The winner was owned by Mr A Le Roch, trained by Shem C Jeffrey and ridden by Mornington Wing. The winner won by a head, with 4 lengths between second and third.

RACE REPORT

As the tapes went up Noble Princess made the early running, but within a furlong Lady Violette had taken charge, followed by Rachel, Martina and El Obeid. She continued to set a strong gallop until approaching the distance, at which point El Obeid mounted a vigorous challenge, but was denied by a head, with fully 4 lengths back to Martina.
